One of the most important tools or aspects of the Chinese philosophy Feng Shui, Bagua is actually a map which is comprised of nine different categories. These areas are referred to as gua, with each one having its own natural element and direction associated with it, as well as an ideal color scheme to enhance the positive flow of chi (energy).
Using the Feng Shui Bagua in the home, the quality of one's health, inner well being, and overall outlook on life can be greatly enhanced and enriched in many different ways by simply implementing these ancient practices.
The nine areas of the Bagua and the direction associated with each are:
1. Abundance, Blessings (Southwest): Wind is the element associated with abundance and fortunate blessings and should be enhanced with the rich colors such as bright red, royal purple, or intense blues. The most tasteful, expensive items should be placed in this room of the home, along with fountains, mirrors, or sparkling crystals.
2. Fame, Reputation (South): Fire should be represented in this area as well as bright, vibrant colors including fiery reds. To decorate, choose embellishments that also represent fire, such as candles, incense, or be sure that the fireplace is the focal point of the room. Animal prints and images of wildlife are also beneficial for enhancing the favorable effects.
3. Relationships (Southwest): Both Earth and fire will create a positive effect regarding the aspect of personal relationships. Pinks, reds, or other earthy tones will also enhance the flow of chi along with symbols or objects that represent love, caring, kindness, and harmony.
4. Family, Heritage (East): Wood should be used prominently to represent the eastern, family and ancestral area of the Bagua map. Living things should be the focal point of the room, and the most favorable hues for this area are greens, along with accompanying shades of the color in the form of plants, or images of trees and flowers.
5. Health (Center): This area of the Feng Shui Bagua represents where all other parts of life connect. Earth is the natural element to be displayed in this area in the form of items such as plant life, or vases made from ceramic or clay. Using a blend of earthy tones and yellows for color, this space should be sparse, uncluttered, and free of chaos or disorder.
6. Creativity (West): Metals and metallic colors such as gold or silver, in addition to whites and pastels, all create a favorable effect when used in conjunction with creative or whimsical items. These might include craft supplies, paintings and drawings, children's toys, as well as objects that are round or circular shaped.
7. Self-knowledge, Wisdom (Northeast): This section of the dwelling should be done in colors such as dark greens, blues, and black, and feature the natural elements of both water and Earth. This area of a house would be an excellent location for am home office, library, or study, and should be tastefully filled with books, computers, artwork or other items that would enhance knowledge and facilitate the flow of chi.
8. Career, Life Path (North): In this area, incorporate elements of water, preferably flowing water such as a fountain, in addition to a color scheme that centers on dark blues or black. When decorating, add items such as mirrors, crystals, and glass to boost the power of the water's energy.
9. Spiritual Guides, Friends, Travel (Northwest): For an enhancement of the positive energy, use metal in this area of the home along with colors such as gray, black, and white to increase the impact, as well as religious statues, or other spiritual items.
Feng Shui Tip #1
Most of us would easily relate feng shui to the practice of achieving harmony with the elements and the environment through proper placement and arrangement of space and matter. However, do you know that feng shui can also deal with abstract like love or romance. |
Feng Shui Tip #2
Want to improve your romance? First, clean up your home and free it from clutter. This is because a messy or cluttered room does not promote proper flow of chi. Instead it will leave it stagnant and stale. |
Feng Shui Tip #3
Bedroom, for most of us, is for rest and relaxation only. Hence, do not bring work into the bedroom as the stress of work will permeate the feeling of harmony and make your love life stressful. It is also advisable not to work out in the bedroom as well since the strain and exertion of your exercise could remain and affect your love life. That is Feng Shui Bedroom for you.
